John Kasich isn't for holding onto the GOP's pledge
by Nathan'ette Burdine: June 21, 2016

In an interview that aired last Thursday during MSNBC’s Morning Joe, John Kasich sat down with Joe Scarborough and let it be known that pledges can be broken.

The Ohio governor told Scarborough that Donald Trump’s, Republican Party presumptive presidential nominee, behavior has become so bad that he has to divorce himself from the pledge that he [Kasich] made to support the eventual presidential nominee.

Kasich said, “Yeah, yeah, yeah you know it’s painful, it’s painful. You know People even get divorces. You know, I mean sometimes things come about that uh, uh, that look I’m sorry that this has happened but I mean we’ll see where it ends up. I’m not making any final decisions.”

Scarborough asked Kasich what advice he would give to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell about the best way to deal with Donald Trump’s unorthodox behavior.

Kasich told Scarborough that “they don’t care what I think” and that as Ohio’s governor he, Kasich, has made the decision to remain politically separated from Donald Trump: "I I don’t know. But I know that as the Governor of Ohio, when some people who pound on me, I said, ‘I’m not prepared to do it and he’s going to have to change.’"
