Benjamin Netanyahu gives words of encouragement to
French President Francois Hollande
After the terrorist attacks in France, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave words of encouragement to French President Francois Hollande.
According to the Jerusalem Post, Netanyahu told Hollande not to be dismayed by the terrorist and to use freedom to fight the terrorist “barbaric” acts.
The Jerusalem Post quoted Netanyahu as saying, “The terrorists have shown that they have the will to crush us, but they don’t have the capacity…Freedom must win, but to win, we have to stand together and fight together. This is our message to the people of France, and this is our message to all the citizens of civilized countries.”
Amedi Coulibaly, who has connections to Cherif Kouachi [Charlie Hebdo attacker], killed four people at a Kosher deli.
Coulibaly, Cherif, and Said Kouachi were killed on Friday by the French Police. Coulibaly’s wife, Hayat Boumeddiene, remains on the run.
During a speech on Friday to the people of France, Hollande spoke about the killings at the deli. He pointed out that the killings at the deli went beyond a difference of religious views to that of “racism and anti-Semitism.”
“And first of all, to be impractible, to be totally against any racism and anti-semitism because there was an anti-semitic attack. A terrible anti-semitic attack was committed today in the Kosher shop,” said Hollande.
Hollande also stated that the terrorist attacks should not be used to paint a broad brush of those who are members of the Muslim faith, and that “unity” is the most powerful “weapon” they have to fight extremism.
