The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Guest Dionne Warwick
Dionne Warwick is at the age where
she can say whatever she likes
she can say whatever she likes
Last Thursday, during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Ms. Dionne Warwick let Stephen Colbert know that she is a woman whose many, many years of living has giving her the right to say whatever is on her mind.
My mother told me when she reached my age.
Your mother?
Yes, my mother. She said I am now old enough to say and do
whatever I want to do so shut up. So I’m there.
Ms. Dionne Warwick’s comment is in response to Stephen Colbert’s question about her Twitter fame.
During the show, Stephen Colbert showed Ms. Dionne Warwick the New Jersey dot com article, How Dionne Warwick went from Queen of Pop to Queen of Twitter, and The New Yorker article, NEVER TWEET, UNLEES YOU’RE DIONNE WARWICK, talking about her tweets.
What do you like about tweeting?
Just saying what I want to say and whomever it is that I want to
say it.
At your age, it doesn’t matter what they think?
There you go.
It has a benefit.
It’s true! Whenever a person does like Ms. Dionne Warwick has and reaches gold star living age, he or she can say whatever comes to mind.
You don’t like that baby in the stroller. Well, say it! That baby just got here. He hasn’t earn the right to be mad at you. You use to be a baby. What does that baby know?! He's starting where you were 81 years ago.
It’s the same with the food in the grocery store. You tell the CEO of that you don’t like the options they’re giving you. What does he know?! He hasn’t been selling food longer than you’ve been buying it. You say what you want to whomever you want.
Heck, if you don’t like where the country is headed, you walk right up to POTUS and tell him about it. What is he going to do?! POTUS ain’t been running a country longer than you’ve been living in it.
You’re a gold star lifer with benefits. And as gold star lifer Ms. Dionne Warwick says you’re “now old enough to say and do whatever.”
