Donald Trump will work for free if he becomes the next president

During an interview last week on Fox News’ “Media Buzz”, Donald Trump told host Howard Kurtz that he wouldn’t accept pay if he’s elected president.

Trump told Kurtz, “If I get the opportunity to serve, we will do a great job and I will do it for zero dollars. You know I told somebody the other day, They said, ‘You wouldn’t want the money? I said, ‘Absolutely not.’”

The president’s salary is $400,000/year. According to Fortune Magazine, Trump’s net worth is $4.5 billion dollars.

Hence, the president’s salary is .089% of Trump’s net worth. Trump acknowledged that he does not stand to gain financially by running for president.

Trump told Kurtz, “Beside from funding my own campaign, this is not a very profitable situation.” Trump went on to say that he’s quite sure he’ll win and when he does he’ll hold to his promise to not accept any money for his service to the country.

Trump is quoted as saying, “I’m funding my own campaign and I want nothing when I win.” If he wins the 2016 presidential election, Trump will be the nation’s richest president.

According to Ashley C. Allen of 24/7 Wall St, the top three richest presidents are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore Roosevelt.

Washington and Jefferson made their money the old fashion way through marriage, slavery, and land ownership.

Washington is worth $525 million and Jefferson is worth $212 million. Roosevelt was what modern folks will call a trust fund baby. He is worth $125 million.

Former President Bill Clinton is the only former president on 24/7 Wall St’s 10 Richest U.S. President’s list to go from rags to riches.

Clinton made most of his money in speaking engagements and is worth $55 million. President Obama’s net worth is $7.5 million.
